Black Matter is a collaboration between Alexander Popelier and Nel Verbeke. About creating an abstract sub-reality, an atmosphere. It is an image that asks for silences, its about mood more than words.

The series consist of a number of high-end images, shade as veil through them as to the same atmosphere they exhale. Hidden in darkness we see an insertion alienated elements appearing throughout this situation. These elements are own creations (nel verbeke), luminous masks, a black feathered head piece that seems to affect the view.  It is about the uncanny. But all of this on a subtle level, the whole is sober, not magical. What counts is the power of images, the poses, a sub-real situation. Silent, abstact and lost in time.
